FS: Theirs Issard 7-Day Razor Roll- Brown Baragnia Leather

Hello all,

My loss is your gain on this brand new Theirs Issard 7-Day Razor Roll in Brown Baragnia leather.  I purchased this roll from The Invisible Edge (http://www.thiers-issard.co.uk) about a week ago, but accidentally ordered brown instead of black. The postage to return the roll for a refund is quite high, so I figured I would offer it to a forum member at a discount before sending it back.   I paid $95 for the razor roll, but will be offering it here for $75 shipped to CONUS.

Cheers,
Tom

Two items for sale here today.

First is my Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic. Asking $85 shipped ConUS. Used probably 10 times or so. Purchased last month. SOLD

Second is a jar of MdC original scent. I bought this in April I believe, and have used it around 7-10 times also. Barely put a dent in it as you can see. Asking $50 shipped ConUS. I believe I have the box for this as well.

Recently a Plisson synthetic (Plisson branded not Loccitane) brush was listed for $60 and then reduced to $55 and eventually sold. Seller made false claims that this brush is denser and has better handle than loccitane branded brush, which is not true and i assume moderators know this since this is a very famous brush. the only difference between the two brushes is the branding! The brush retails at loccitane stores for $32!! I am aware that Plisson sells these brushes directly for a lot more than $32 but the box in the picture was clearly the same box loccitane packs their brushes in!
A bit disappointed to be honest that mods didn't question the post specially that this listing was up for 10 days.

Large Glue Bump on Pur-Tech Knot

I've been experimenting with various synthetics since last year.  I wanted to try the Pur Tech fiber, which is considered a Generation 4.   I opted not to purchase a Frank Shaving brush, and decided to have Bob Quinn (Elite Razor) make me one of his great handles with a 24mm Pur Tech knot.  I asked Bob to set the loft at 55mm.

The handle is superbly crafted.  I've always liked Bob's E7 handle, but chose a different design this time and I was delighted with the result:

Now on to the knot.  When I received the brush I shaved with it the next day without taking any measurements or feeling the base of the knot.  The moment I began to shave I knew this did not feel like a 55mm loft.  I checked the base of the knot and felt a large glue bump.  After the brush dried I measured the loft and Bob set it correctly at 55mm.  I then put a toothpick through the brush to get a visual picture of how large the glue bump was.  This picture illustrates the height of the glue bump, as I cannot get the toothpick any lower:

This glue bump is concentrated in the middle of the knot, as there is some thickness of fiber all around the outside diameter of the knot which is not glued.  However, the brush does not splay anywhere near as much as a 55mm without a glue bump would.    As it turns out, the brush performs fine for me.  I'm in the minority of users who are fine with a low loft and less splay on synthetics.  However, for those who subscribe to the view that synthetics need a higher loft to be at their best, this knot could present a problem.

FS: Simpson Polo 10 in Best BNIB

Hi all,

I recently acquired a Polo 10 in best. I think this brush will be too big for my little hands so I'm choosing to part with it.

The brush is brand new and has never touched water. It's boxed. The sticker however isn't 100% straight but fairly minor!

£105 shipped worldwide £100 shipped in the UK.

St. James of London sandalwood and bergamot

Is it just me or does St. James of London's sandalwood and bergamot smell just like Taylor of Old Bond Street's Jermyn Street. I bought a sample and ,having used Jermyn Street in my rotation for some time, upon opening and smelling had to take a double take at the label. Is the scent the same its so spot on its got me thinking that someone labeled this sample incorrectly. If Anyone else has tried the two please fill me in. Thanks!

Soap question????

I'm wanting to melt a pic to put it into a shaving stick tube for my travel kit. Does anyone know if this messes with the formulation in anyway? Does the heat kill the scent? Does the heat make certain ingredients seperate or anything? Any knowledge would be helpful, but if you're just hypothesizing please say that it's just a guess and you're not for sure. Thanks!

What Ye Think of Pure Badger Knot Brushes???

$

I have read a number of forum and Internet articles/posts where pure badger knots are considered to be the "bottom feeders" of badger brushes. However, I am a fan of these knots. I like the "floppyness" and soft nature of these brushes....especially with creams. They are the opposite of a boar like the Semogue 620, but deliver, for me, as much pleasure.

Also, I have a number of "high end" badgers such as a Romera Rustic Chubby and a Semogue 2013 LE. The pure is as enjoyable as the silver tip. Perhaps I should have saved my money. Undecided
