The Monteverde Tool Pen

$

I love the concept of the Monteverde Tool Pen. (See it here: http://www.gouletpens.com/Monteverde_Tou...v35231.htm.) Unfortunately, it only comes with a medium nib. While I know I could switch out the nib (my preference would be a Fine) it adds considerably to the overall cost of the pen.

If nothing else, I know that having a ruler and a touch screen rubber finial on the pen would add a lot to its usefulness for me. Even the level could come in handy. The screwdriver maybe not so much because I think using it might damage the pen body.

What do the rest of you think of this idea?

Hello from Texas!

Hello everyone! I am brand new to this forum and I figured I would say hi! I am about six months into my wet shaving adventures and I absolutely love it! I currently only use vintage gillettes, but I want to keep an open mind (especially if I get more $ to fund my RAD.) Its funny to think that finding a $2 tech at a flea market would start such a hobby (ok, obsession). I'm excited to see what all this forum has to offer and to continue along my wetshaving journey with everyone here.

Thater 28 mm two-band silvertip

Gentlemen,
I am fond of Thater brushes. They are handmade, dense with good backbone, and the tips as soft as the first kiss. I have five Thater breushes and can't get enough of them. All are bulb. This is the only fan shape. And therein lies my problem with this brush for me.

It is a fabulous brush, and lush, but I just don't like fan-type brushes, no matter the brand. So I am offering this one for sale. I received it a few days ago and have lathered with it only once. That's right, only once. The tips are sweet, the knot dense with medium backbone, and the tips as luscious as the thanksgiving dinner. The brush also blooms like Scarlett O'Hara sassing Rhett Butler. If you've never experienced a big Thater brush, here is your chance. Again, the brush has been used only once. New, this brush is $200. You may have mine for $175 shipped U.S. Such a deal!. Paypal is fine. No trades please. Thanks.

It is in NOS condition I have never used it the owner before me never used it, The razor has sat on my shelf for almost two years time to move it along. It is a British Gillette Psycho not the American version.

Queen Charlotte Soaps

I was just looking at a thread started by Teiste last month about our favorite artisan soaps, Queen Charlotte did alright in the voting, I cast my vote for JabonMan. I noticed that they offer a soap and a cream for each scent, unlike most of the other artisans who make one or the other. If anyone uses or has used QCS, could you tell me a little about the differing consistency of each, i.e. is the soap a milled puck or a croap and is the cream very soft or more croap like. Also, if you prefer the soap or cream. Thanks for any help Biggrin

Sandalwood Scents

I have some NOS Coates Sandalwood and enjoy the subtle, warm scent. I'm thinking of stocking up on that, but am also interested in other sandalwoods. I don't care for Taylor (apparently scented like their cologne), but am thinking of Trumper Sandalwood. How does that scent compare to Coates? Any other recommendations?

OCMM Tamed...

When I first got into this SE adventure I was given a OCMM by Shadows Dad along with a Gem Jr Fatty, and a very cool Gem J-bar lather catcher. The task was go from mild to down right nasty aggressive. We all know the OCMM is a tiger. My 1 st shave with it I lokked like I was in an MMA match and took some serious ground and pound. I put the OCMM on the side and worked on my SE skills. I pulled it out again after around 6 weeks and was much more careful. Close shave as I learned to respect the razor....

That was quite a while ago. I have been taking the bad boy out of the garage more and more. I've finally lined her up in the rotation along with all the rest. The OCMM is a beast but a beast that I have tamed. I guess my skills are finally getting there. Another milestone reached....

The one thing I've noticed is it seem like my whiskers get ANGRY when I use the OCMM. I get very close shaves. I'm sure closer than any other razor I own. But when my beard grows out it feels thicker and more prickly. Like my beard is MAD !!!

Is it my imagination? Am I having flashbacks from the 80's? I know it sounds crazy but to me that's what it feels like. So now every time I pick up the OCMM I laugh and say to my beard, "time to p*&& you whiskers off".... Anyone else has the same experience please let me know that I'm not really crazy... Well that would be a stretch. Just let me know I'm not alone.... Happy Shaves !!!

Hello from Philadelphia

I recently became reinterested in wet shaving when I accompanied a friend to an Art of Shaving store. I gave up wet shaving years ago due to skin irritations but always liked the feel of a true clean shave. My visit to the store revitalized my interest but I've never been a fan of just buying what someone tells me in a store so I went home and started doing some research of my own.
Growing up my father used a safety razor from India with Wilkinson Sword blades. It was the first razor I ever shaved with so I decided to try using one again. I recently orfered a Merkur Heavy Duty 34c and have been researching brushes. I have decided on a simpson duke 3 best badger hair since I'm not sure if I'm gonna prefer to face lather or bowl lather. I was interested in finding a local store that might carry the brush so I could actually get a sense of the brush before purchase. Any advice on a place in the philadelphia region that specializes in shave products or just any insight for a new wet shaver would be apreciated. Excited to be a part of the TSN family. The discussions on here have already been very helpful.
