Favorite cookie for coffee or tea?

I enjoy a cookie with my coffee from time to time. My current favorite is an Italian anise cookie. They get better after being allowed to ripen for a few days. They keep well, and your kids won't eat them all up before you've had one.

If you don't care for anise, you can use lemon extract in the glaze instead.

I´d been less than a year shaving my face with a Semogue 1800, and now I believe that my skin would be more relieved with a badger brush. (I read a lot about the badgers softness).

I´ve never had one before, so please, suggestions for a beginner.

I rather not spend all my funds for my first badger, becuase in case it doesn´t help my skin I´ll be very sad and out of cash Undecided Biggrin

Thanks in advanced! Angel

Does anyone from this board living in Colombia? I have often wanted to visited the city of Bogota for certain reasons, but have always been taken back by how bad they say the crime and murder rate is for tourist. On top of that I don't know one bit of the native language rather it is Spanish or Portuguese. Any suggestions on where to stay, visit, if I ever do decide to make that trip?

Lots of tea today

I have to undergo that unspeakable medical procedure that folks of a certain age should do.

Today is the no solid foods/purge day. I am allowed jello and clear liquids.

I decided to make this as enjoyable as possible and brewed myself a pot of Twinings Irish Breakfast tea. I like this tea.

So while not quite high tea as there are no biscuits or breads to nibble on I am still enjoying it.

The tea cozy was made for me by an Aunt in the UK and is cherished.

We were away for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Arriving home there was a stack of 5 day's worth of mail. We get tons of catalogs. Especially at Christmas. I am sure our mailman hates usBiggrin

Midst that pile were two delights -
Fountain Pen Hospital 2014 Catalog
Paradise Pens Giving Manual no. 12

Both are a joy to look at. I have perused them each at least 3 times.

Lightroom 5

Hey everyone! I thought this would be the best place to post this as it is camera related.

I just wanted to give the heads up that the full download of Adobe Lightroom 5 is going for $90 from Adobe.com. The sale ends tonight.

Personally I bought it because I have heard too many whispers about pulling the full software downloads off the shelf, and only having the Creative Cloud to work with, and I refuse to pay that monthly fee to acces the software. (whispers according to the photo forums anyway)

Since there are a few of us who are photographers here, I thought this may be of interest.

Will it soften up ? Wet Shaving Products Pure badger brush.

I have never had patience with pure badger hair brushes , I must admit.I have tried quiet a few , being the Vie Long black badger a very soft one , the shavemac close enough , and some , like the Omegas or Plisson access , very , very scratchy and quiet unpleasant to use with circular strokes on the face.

However , some gentlemen from foroafeitado have told me , that with patience and use , quality pure badger will soften up quiet a bit or , in some cases , a lot.

I asked Lee for one of his quality pure badger brushes and he sent me one (I didn't pay for this one ) just to test it and check , if using it regularly , the hair will truly get softened.

Something that truly strike me was that this hair is so similar to the Semogue 2011 LE finest badger 1 brush. Here a ic of both of them , so you can check it out too :

Also Lee told me that this pure badger hair is one the best one you can find right now , and Im experiencing that : its not only similar to the finest badger used by Semogue in the 2011 LE but also the shavemac's pure badger (kind of a two band , with the tips non bleached or more yellowish)

I have been using it for 5 days now , when I shave my head (I do that frequently) and have noticed how the bristles are softening , but its not as soft (I mean the tips) as a Silvertip or some types of two band hair.So far feels like the best badger hair used by some brands like Edwin Jagger.

Ill keep experimenting and I will let you know.I can say that while Im not a big fan of pure badger hair , if you are looking for a good exfoliating massage , a brush like this could truly satisfy you , and some gentlemen out there prefer it that way.

El Druida Macassar Ebony Synthetic Brush

El Druida (Javier) is a custom brush maker who joined The Shave Nook earlier this year, and is now one of our Artisans. I had been impressed with various examples of his custom work, pictured here on the Nook and on the Spanish forums. I recently placed a custom order with him, and received an impeccably wrapped package today ... I'm very pleased.
The workmanship and finishing is outstanding. The knot is dense, with decent backbone, and very soft tips.

Javier was very easy to work with, and provided prompt responses to my various questions prior to order placement and payment. Once finalized, Javier kept me informed with updates regarding progress, as well as giving me the particulars regarding shipping date, etc.
I plan to order more brushes from him in the future, and recommend his services without hesitation.

Nick's Red Jacket - Green Mountain Soap

Nick's Red Jacket

Here's my review of this soap that I provided for the Scent Off 2013. You will notice that my ratings of scent and presentation are very similar to the average score given by the judges. However, performance was truly where the expression YMMV comes into play.

Scent - 8.5
Performance - 10
Presentation - 4

The puck of Nick's Red Jacket arrived in red pouch with a silver drawstring reminiscent of a miniature gift bag belonging to St. Nick. The presentation left no doubt that this was a Christmastime themed soap.

This soap presents as a soap with a complex scent to me. When I was building a lather I could detect hints of spice, clove, peppermint and a heavier scent that must have been the tobacco or oakmoss ingredients. Overall, the scent of the soap is a balanced blend of goodness with no ingredient outweighing the other. The artisan soap maker described the scent as,"the scent of Christmas Eve clinging to St. Nick's jacket on Christmas Eve on his journey home to the North Pole." I believe the description was as accurate as any that I could provide. The scent of the soap did not seem to linger long after my three pass shave and it did not interfere with the selection of after shave or cologne.

The performance of Nick's Red Jacket was superb. The soap easily produced copious amounts of lather whether building lather in a bowl or face lathering. The soap was not a overly thirsty soap and the quality of the later was excellent with a slick and lubricating feel. The slickness of the lather was so good that it reminded me of what I sometimes describe as a "slick trout" feel. When I have a soap that performs with this level of cushioning and glide I know that the conditioning qualities will be top notch. My skin felt soft and smooth long after the shave and I often reminded myself of this by placing my hand to my face repeatedly throughout the morning. A great performing soap such as will be used throughout the year because it is such a joy to use and experience. The Scent Off 2013 has allowed me to use some excellent soaps and Nick's Red Jacket is one of the best soaps I have tried recently.

Maybe it is the ingredients in the soap that provide the slickness to St. Nick's Jacket allowing him to glide up and down the tight spots in the chimney.

Gotta move some stuff gents, so here goes:

Rudy Vey custom synthetic used less than 10 times and is a lather monster. Rudy fashioned this handle after the popular M&F Chief and he installed a Muhle Synthetic STF v2 25mm knot set at 53mm loft.

I paid $90 for it a month ago, $75 shipped takes it.
