I just noticed I haven't made a proper introduction here. As a long time lurker and also a member of other popular shaving forums,here's to remedying that.

I've been wetshaving for some time now, my favourite razors being the Rockwell 6S. I also like vintages, more for their looks than performance.

Three (3) bars of vintage Windsor House shaving soap are available to purchase.  Each bar weighs approximately 105g (3.5 ounce), the same as a typical puck of shaving soap.  I have lathered a couple of times one of the bars I am keeping, and it makes great lather with wonderful skin care, making me believe that the soap is tallow based.  I held it in my hand, but it also can easily be grated into a bowl.  Its fragrance is quite light and to my nose has citrus and bergamot top notes, with underlying spice (clove, nutmeg, cinnamon) and woody notes.  $15 per bar shipped CONUS.

I'm looking for a very hard/fine Karasu from any of the Kyoto mines. My preference would be Ozuku or Nakayama, but I will consider any of them. Looking for a full size stone, with 25mm+ thickness.

We are talking type or razors / blades here of course.  

What is your preference and why?  Which do you find leads to a more satisfying, irritation free (or at least minimal) shave?

I know this is a YMMV kind of question, just curious what you all think.

I've been using safety razors since Ike was President and for much of that time Double Edge razors were one of the impulse buying objects at nearly every checkout register along with cigarettes and Zippo lighters and Kodak film. Add in the fact that a safety razor was a "safe" gift for most any occasion and being in a family with a tradition of Hand-me-downs" means that  although there has never been the intention of collecting razors (or pocket knives or or lighters or fountain pens or watches or ...) I somehow ended up with a fair accumulation.

After discovering "Shaving forums" I decided maybe it would be worthwhile putting together some Boring Details about the razors; maker and style and model and dimensions and weights.

Here is the latest version of that data:

If it's stuff already available everywhere then just assume I have no Google-Fu.

If it's stuff everybody already knows the just assume I'm old and if I don't write it down I forget it.

If it's neat then enjoy it.

I did not include some things that I probably should; like the Schick Krona is the plastic end version and I have the metal ended ones as will so should include them  Also the different Super Speed Flare tips vary in weight so I should have included more examples of them,

But I didn't although I might so stay tuned for the Next installment of BORING DETAILS.

Now, this is a very, very rare offering indeed...

Plisson Size 14

Genuine PRE-CITES Ivory handle which has a very nice weight to it and an absolutely beautiful pattern (which is rather difficult to capture).

2 band European White (usually only ever produced with HMW). I wanted to ensure good backbone. IMO the hair is difficult to distinguish from HMW.

This was commissioned by me and another well know brush collector, so to the best of my knowledge ONLY 2 of these brushes exist.

Plisson no longer offer ivory handles. This brush has been used twice. The price was 852.50 euros (plus shipping etc).

Trade interests include: Titanium BBS-1, Titanium Wolfman.

Was in SC visiting my mother , we were at a few local antique stores and I kept coming across this company's products. The barbershop scent smells similar to Mikes natural soaps. Nice selection of hand and bath soaps as well with some very unique scent options to choose. I picked up just this single puck of shave soap with the matching bath bar.

Good news it cleared the first hurdle, passed the sniff test with SWMBO.  Looking forward to giving it a shot.

This one came with an R plate and I later added an H plate.  Also included is the tuck of Astra blades that came with the razor.
