Up for sale are two Muhle shaving brushes, the Purist Karelian Masur Birch and the Classic with synthetic knots. These brushes were purchased new by me directly from Muhle in Germany. They are both in immaculate condition. The Karelian Masur birch has a 21mm knot, the retail price is USD $149. The classic has a 23mm knot, the retail price is USD $86. 

I'm asking for USD $120 for both. PayPal is fine and the price includes tracked shipping worldwide. The brushes will be sent via EMS (fast shipping service) from Tokyo, Japan. It usually takes 3-5 days to arrive in the US.

I think that Wet Shaving Products' Formula T is an excellent tallow soap base which does not get the praise it deserves.  My favorite WSP Formula T is the Tobacco.  This is Lee's description of the scent in the Formula T Tobacco soap:

We started with notes of cured tobacco for the base, and added top notes of bay leaf, and fir to create an intoxicating blend of tobacco and bay leaf. 

I've been using this soap for quite a while, and place it among my top three tobacco soaps, along with Asylum Old Virginia and JabonMan Tobacco.  Of those three, WSP is clearly the sweetest.

WSP recently released a cream version of its Tobacco scent.  I like the scent a lot, so I decided to try the cream version.  The soap is in a small tin holding 4.7 oz.  The cream is in a large plastic tub holding 6 oz.

 

This is not a soft, smooth, cream.  We've come up with the word "croap" to refer to a product which falls in between a cream and a soap.  More recently, CRSW began to call its Glide a "shaving cream soap."  However, WSP's cream and CRSW's Glide have a different consistency.  Whereas Glide has a drier, smooth consistency, WSP has a wetter, clumpy consistency.  







I face lather exclusively, and I found the consistency of this cream does not lend itself to applying it to the tip of the brush.  Instead, I spread a small amount of soap on my face, then begin face lathering with the damp brush.  This method results in an immediate production of quality lather.  This cream definitely lathers quickly and easily.  I found the soap to produce a slightly thicker, richer, more yogurt like lather.  However, I generally find this to be the case when comparing tallow soaps with creams.  

The scent is supposed to be the same in the soap and the cream.  It's possible for the same scent to smell differently in a soap and a cream, but that's not the case here.  The soap and the cream smell identical to me.  If you like the scent of the soap, you will get the same scent in the cream.  In terms of scent strength, I find the soap and the cream to be generally comparable, with perhaps the soap being just slightly more pronounced.

I found the post shave qualities of the soap and the cream to be comparable.

The issue of soaps versus creams is, of course, entirely subjective.  One can get a great shave with either.  For those who like creams, I find this to be an excellent offering by WSP.  While we have a plethora of artisan soaps, artisan creams are few and far between.  We're fortunate that Lee applied his skills to producing a cream, and has released a number of WSP soap scents in cream form
