Morris & Forndran - Faux Ivory Blonde Badger

$

0
Up for sale is a very special brush, it's a Morris & Forndran with a Blonde Badger knot. The brush was purchased by me brand new from Lee in 2014 and has been used 3 times. It's in immaculate condition. The knot is sublime with incredibly springy hair shafts, gel tips, medium firm backbone and no glue knot. This would make a nice addition to any collection.

Handle material: Faux ivory with a subtle grain pattern
Hair: 2 Band Blonde Badger
Type: Fan
Size: 26mm
Loft: 49mm

I'm asking for USD $210 + $20 for worldwide tracked EMS (express)  shipping service from Tokyo, Japan. The brush will be shipped on Tuesday 14th March, it takes 3-4 days to the US and 7 days to Europe.

I posted this thread recently— http://shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=47397

Now, it's got me thinking. Do I really need to spend a fortune on Biotherm and Vichy, which are the ones I've purchased? Heck, you can even spend a lot more on some of them. My friend's fashion-conscious son has some special stuff that he has to keep in the fridge!

There are many that are half the price, or even 1/4 of the price of what I've purchased. Can there really be that much of a difference?

WTS: B&R Stainless Steel Adjustable

Letting go of my B&R adjustable today.  Wonderful shaver, but I reach for my SE's more often than not these days.  I have two handles for this.  I have the original, which has the #7 adjustment stamped/painted twice so it has a hologram look to it.  The second handle I have has the brass ring.  I received the handle a couple weeks after I purchased the razor.  The brass adjustment ring came as a separate piece from the handle that I also received.  That way it could be glued down at the correct setting since once my head and new handle were mated.  When I glued down the ring I did not have a blade in the razor, so setting 1 is without a blade.  When You put a blade in it the lowest setting is around a 2.  I went back to correct this and used my rubber coated pliars to remove the ring, but I wasn't able to do it as the glue had already set.  I wound up marring the ring in a few places.  The razor has been used around 5 or 6 times.  Due to the brass ring being marred and the original handle being double painted, I will be selling this lower than I should be as it's a fine piece of shaving equipment. I'm asking $225 shipped and insured Conus only please.  If you have any questions please send me a pm.  Paid $299.97

Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet vegan shaving soap

Im a little bit surprised for not seeing this shaving soap more often on the SOTD.

If you love the Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet scent , then , you have reasons to be happy.

A good friend of mine told me that the new Vegan formula used by Wholly Kaw is as good as the tallow based ones.Let me tell you that I'm not more partial to Tallow over veggie based soaps or the other way around : I simply want a soap that it contains quality ingredients and is well formulated. And this is one of them.

This soap comes on a plastic jar with a very bright full yellow sticker which truly gives you an idea of what you're going to find inside : 4 oz of a superb scented shaving soap.

It's ingredients are basic and the Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil stands out , specially for a dry skin like mine.Again , this is a vegan soap , and no tallow and lanolin have been used but there is a version with those ingredients (black label instead of yellow)

This soap makes a extra thick and slick lather.I find that sometimes thick lather is not slick. This is not the case : the Jojoba Oil seems to create that extra slickness.

Here I use a WSP Stubby Silvertip Premium brush.Load it for 15 seconds :

And here is after a minute , and no water added :

My skin doesn't lies : if a product doesn't contains the right ingredients and don't use pre shave oil , goes really dry after my shave.Again , it wasn't the case with this soap.Perfect nourished after it and no extra dryness or red spots anywhere.

And something that I truly enjoy about this soap is the scent.Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet revisited.I say that because is based on Sir Winston Churchill favorite scent but even more manly. The notes are fresh but deeper , I don't know how to express it better.Smells like BB but with more of a complex open , middle and finishing notes.I find it to be a winner on my list , like the Asylum Neroli and Black Pepper  , Colonia Mediterranea by CRSW , Tallow and Steel Classic and WSP Mahogany. Each of those soaps smells different but has something in common : was love at first sniff for me.This have been too.

Very impressed with this vegan soap.Wholly Kaw have shown that veggie or tallow based , if a soap is well formulated , then is going to be a success.Well done.

Found in the wild today at the Walmart in Cave Creek, AZ. Used it right away and several things struck me:
1. It's supplied with the consistency of Speick balm
2. Very very light fragrance, like a 2 on a 10 being full AV
3. Not greasy. Absorbed well.

Nice change of pace for $4.96
Now if I could post a picture that'd be great!

Counterfeit Asylum RX Razors on eBay

$

In the DE Razors forum, there is a thread about counterfeit Chinese shaving goods on ebay.

http://shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=47407

This morning, nvpliers spotted a Chinese vendor selling counterfeit Asylum RX razors for $27.90, and posted this on the thread (post # 13).  Through some quick action, we were able to get ebay to take down this fraudulent listing.

This type of activity is disgusting, undermines the integrity of our hobby, and needs to be crushed.  The key here is vigilance.  The Forum Team looks for these listings, but the more eyes out there the better.  If you see these listings for counterfeits, please report them to ebay immediately.  What happened today confirms that we can bring these unscrupulous actors down.

Thanks guys.

Rockwell 6S - maiden voyage

$

6S arrived yesterday, too it for its first spin today.

Setup:

Plate 3
Blade:  GSB
Soap:  Stirling Piacenza
AS/Balm:  Stirling Piacenza

Initial impressions:

My first few strokes I didnt think I had the correct angle, and it felt like it wasnt cutting like it should.  Once I got it dialed in, the whisker reduction was what I would expect from the 3rd plate.  The 2nd pass was effortless, and I felt like I got somewhere between a BBS and DFS with 2 easy passes.  Couple things struck me about this razor:  1)  I rotate between keeping the sink basin filled with warm water and rinsing my razor off to clean, vs keeping my water running and rinsing that way.  The lather channels on this razor seem to clear better using the running water method.  Could've been the soap, but something to watch/keep on eye on moving forward.  2)  going back on a bare face to buff/clean up was MUCH smoother with this razor than any other I have ever used.  This step usually induces irritation for me, but not so with the 6s.

In summary, this was a very impressive 1st shave.  I am going to go to Plate #4 on Tuesday (my normal shave routine is Sunday, Tues, Thur) and explore the extra aggressiveness.  Having said that, Plate #3 would provide an outstanding shave experience for just about anyone (except some of us hardcore nuts on here).  This isn't anything groundbreaking that hasnt been discussed on here many times, just my initial thoughts on an outstanding piece of equipment.

Here it is on my Jurgen Hempel titanium handle:

I'm looking to buy one of each from these two brands.

In stainless steel. I don't like to fiddle with seasoning.

Anyone who owns cookware from these two brands ?

Searching for a great sauter pan and also a frying pan/skillet - both for vegetables and risotto.

The frying pan needs to be 28 cm and the sauter pan needs to be 24 cm with a lid and a extra handle.

I cook/sear/roast my meat and steaks in my Le Creuset enameled cast iron 30cm/12" pan, that also goes into the oven.

Thanks.

28mm Paladin Falstaff and Simpson Duke 3 in Two-Band

These are both great brushes which don't need any detailed description.  My brush preferences keep getting narrower, and I have so many brushes I only keep the ones qualifying as my favorites.  I also have to clear some room for other brushes which are on their way.

I am the original owner of the brushes.  Neither brush has shed any hairs or has any cosmetic issues, and they have both been meticulously cared for.  As you will see from the individual descriptions, they are virtually new.

Prices include shipping by Priority Mail.  PayPal and no trades please.

28mm Paladin Falstaff  SOLD

This brush is from the January 5, 2017 release and has been used three times.  Its diameter/loft are approxiamately 28.50/53.50mm.  I am selling this because I've decided the Chief is my favorite Paladin handle and I'm going to focus on those.  Price new was $220.00.  I do not have the original cardboard tube the brush came in.

Price:  $180.00

Simpson Duke 3 Two-Band  SOLD

Purchased directly from Simpson in October 2016 and has been used three times.  Its diameter/loft are approximately 24.50/48+mm.  I am selling, with great hesitation given the scarcity of Simpson Two-Band, because the handle and knot are smaller than I like.  This is my only brush with a knot diameter of less than 26mm, and I prefer my Chubby 2's.  Price new was approximately $218.91 for the brush itself, and a total of $241.60 after shipping and the fees imposed by the bank for the currency exchange.  I have the original box.

Price is $200.00
