Hello, my name is Jack
Just registered here. Been shaving with a straight razor for 3-4 months. Developed a hobby of knives and sharpening about 5 years ago. I haven't shaved for years but decided to start. Having no usable shaving gear I decided to use a straight razor because that would give me something else to sharpen. :) So, I've been getting better at shaving and honing but am still a big beginner. A knife forum friend gave me a Boker razor with no handle. It needed serious sharpening before even thinking about using the word "hone". I put a blue/black G-10 handle on it for now and have been shaving with it. I also got a "shave ready" razor just so I'd know what "shave ready" felt like. I did this due to recommendations on the SRP forum. They have helped me a lot. I've been retired for 10 years and have more time on my hands than is healthy. My 4 year old (tomorrow) stays here 4 days a week so that's really cool.
I worked in telephone type communications in the USAF and the computer field after I got out of the AF. Now I sit around sharpening knives and shaving when I'm not chasing Jackson (grandson). :)
