The Simpson Chubby 2 is a legendary brush, especially coveted for its dense knot and solid backbone. This one has a rich super badger 27mm knot and 50mm loft. Face lathering, bowl lathering, the brush performs masterfully. If the knot were a wee bit smaller, the brush would have been perfect for me. I just wanted to share that Above the Tie will be unveiling our newest razor at the Big Shave West in Pasadena this Saturday.

It is a completely new razor for us and I hope it will be enjoyed by many in the wet shaving world. This new product is in direct response form the many comments from you the members of this forum. Found these while I was looking for pictures for Tuesday's post:



Twinjectors is something I've never heard about... but they must clearly have been a thing, and as far as I can tell they came out at about the same time as first twin blade cartridges - but they don't seem to have been on the market for very long. Even the Shave Nook only have a single post even mentioning the Twinjector before this one; a want-to-buy post from 2013.

A few more pictures I found while digging for more information:


As often happens, Gillette was not alone in making injectors for twin blades. Both Persona and Schick made them as well in the same time frame, and they seem to have sunk into the murky depths of time without leaving much behind as well.

I suspect the various twin blade injectors were plagued by the same fault as most multiblade carts; clogging between the blades...

All in all an interesting little oddity that I'm happy I stumbled across in my meandering trek across the internet.

I bought a few of the Switchback 400 handles from PAA and took a shot at mounting some knots from Envy Shave. After a bit of frustration and having to clean the glue from the threads, I'm pretty excited as to the look and feel of the finished products.

I always shave WTG (With The Grain) pass, because the other passes (xtg,atg) makes me a lot of irritation.
What the method\technique to get the best results in WTG shaving?
now i using in aggressive razor and aggressive blade: Muhle R41+Feather , and Gillette Slim Adjustable settings 9 with Feather Blade.
my shaving cream is: Nivea Original Shaving cream (Blue box).

After eight months of development I’m pleased to introduce the Blackland Sabre GEM razor. The Sabre is in production now and is expected to be available for sale in the second half of May. It will be priced identically to the Blackbird.

The Sabre is a modern single-edge safety razor that uses the GEM blade. Like the Blackbird, it is crafted entirely from solid 303 stainless steel and is designed, machined, and finished entirely in the United States. It will be available in both a machined and polished finish.

When designing the Sabre I was committed to making a maneuverable and balanced head. This presented a challenge due to the size and shape of the GEM blade. Rather than use a spring-loaded top cap to hold the blade in place as older GEM razors did, I decided to use a modified threaded post to hold the blade as tightly as possible and create a more standard three-piece razor. After much experimentation we found this approach creates a sufficiently strong razor and allows us to create the smallest head possible. Due to the length of the GEM blade, positioning the post behind the blade creates an unacceptably heavy, unwieldy, and unbalanced razor. By modifying a standard post we were able to make the Sabre head as small and maneuverable as possible while maintaining perfect balance with the handle directly under the center of the head. The result is a wonderfully smooth razor that is a joy to use. The Sabre will be compatible with standard safety razor handles.

Aggressiveness: 5/10
Blade gap: 0.60mm
Ideal shaving angle: 25-40°

After a long process of designing, prototyping, testing, and preparing the Sabre for production, I am anxiously looking forward to bringing this razor to you! This will be a full production razor and there should be sufficient inventory to meet demand. I will be providing updates as we inch closer to the end of production over the next few weeks. There will be no pre-order or wait list for this razor as we expect to be able to adequately meet demand.

Good afternoon all!
Got a buddy into wet shaving and trying to find him a decent badger. I gave him an ebay one to start with but trying to help him step up. As of now his limit is $50. His wish is something red and gold or red, gold, & black (49ers fan). Told him I'm glad it's a wish lol.
Wouldn't mind finding him a butterscotch Stirling or something of the like. Non shedder please! Nothing under 24mm. If anybody has anything give me a shout.
For me I would like a Blackberry Blossom Bay set. I do have one already but would love a back up. Let me know if you have a set your willing to part with. Cash on hand or possible trades.
