Today it is 68 years since the German Wehrmacht surrendered unconditionally, thus ending the last World War in Europe.
Thus it is also 68 years since Norway's resistance army - the MilOrg - accepted the surrenders of various local Wehrmacht commanders and Norwegians were once again masters of our own house, as the Norwegian saying goes.

May 8th is also the Norwegian Veteran Day, when we remember both the veterans from WWII and the roughly 100,000* veterans from all the international operations Norway have taken part in since.
Freedom isn't free, but it's worth paying for...
*) About 50,000 of that number took part in the occupation of Germany as the Independent Norwegian Brigade Group from '48 to '53.
