Boellis Panama 1924 Shaving Soap

This is a product that I have wanted to try for a long time but could never cut loose of the $50.00 it cost to buy the large bar. Well, thanks to a generous PIF from our good member greyhawk (Stuart), I have had a chance to try it.

Here is a little information that I copied and pasted from Joseph over on Italian Barber.

Boellis Panama 1924 Shaving Soap 175g

Boellis Panama 1924 Shave Soap has a wonderful almond scent and is crafted with pure almond oil.  This scent is a favorite among original, classic Neapolitan barbers. This luxurious shaving soap is made of all natural materials and is perfect for all skin types. Each soap bar is approximately 175g and can be used as a whole or cut into sections to be lathered in any mug or bowl. This premium shaving soap comes wrapped in the signature Boellis blue and silver packaging with a blue box. It is a beautiful item and would make an awesome gift.

While chatting with Michele Boellis in Naples in the summer of 2011, he explained how he was instrumental in the creation of this new formula of shaving soap and he would settle for nothing less than perfection from the artisan made Panama 1924 line.  Michele Boellis has definitely put his passion into this product and the end result screams perfection in every way.
Made in Italy

Ingredients: Aqua, stearic acid, palmitic acid, tallow, cocos nucifera, potassium hydroxide, potassium carbonate, tetrasodium edta, parfum.

My Review

First let me say this product is becoming harder and harder to find in the USA. I was told that it is no longer being distributed in the USA but I have not verified that with the manufacture.

After using the sample that was given to me, I order a bar from Europe. The lather was thick and creamy, and after lathering twice for my two pass shave, my skin was left feeling soft and refreshed. This soap has that Italian almond scent, but nothing at all like Cella or P160.

If I were going to keep large bars of Italian soaps, this would be one of them. To me it is well worth $50.00 for the approximately 175g bar.

I have also been told that the bar does not weigh 175g, but rather that is the weight of the soap and the box it comes in.
