Some weeks ago I acquired from Ben an Old Stock Rooney Alibaba Size 3 in Heritage 3 Band. ![Cool]( "Cool")
The Heritage 3 band knot is remarkable: though only a 21/48mm size knot the brush is very dense and provides a soft but scrubby face sensation. A noticeable glue bump makes the loft effectively 45mm and provides an impressive mushroom bloom. And the handle is simply gorgeous/voluptuous (only a PJ comes close).

I have tried most of the 2 band brushes out there and significantly reduced my arsenal of 3 band brushes in favor of 2 bands. My favorite 2 band knots are Simpson, Thäter and the early (gel like) Rooney Heritage batches. I also own WSP and VB 2 bands. In my original Alibaba thread few members posted pictures of there Alibaba 2 band brushes… and I got hooked!!!
Hence, I started the quest to find a Rooney Alibaba Heritage 2 band brush - posting WTB all over the universe, not expecting that anybody would want to part with any of these outstanding brushes. Thankfully, a member of this forum (thanks, Stuart!) was willing to part with one (he owned two) and I was lucky to acquire an Alibaba Size 3 in Heritage 2 band.![Thumbup]( "Thumbup")

The 2 band turned out exactly as I hoped it would be: a medium dense knot with curly, clumpy (when wet) and gel like tips! I remember a thread where a member complained about a Thäter brush with these characteristics as broken - but that is not true! Very fine hair with very soft tips will curl and will clump when wet!
The Alibaba turned out to be a true gem and worthy a constant place in my rotation. With a 21/48mm knot this is a smaller brush, however, due to its fan shape it provides ample contact for face lathering - and significantly less bloom than its 3 band sibling.
Very soon I will be comparing the older Heritage hair with the latest batch. I have a Rooney Highlander Size 2 coming in from VB - my first new Rooney Heritage 2 band purchase in a long time...
