I have been wet shaving going on 5 years, and have enjoyed ever second of it. I have used razors that work well for my thick curly beard, but none better than a slant bar loaded with a sharp blade. Though I've had a Merkur 37G for about 2 years, it's only the last few weeks using it that the shaves have been magical. What have I been doing different? Glad you asked!!! With experience my technique has improved, as well as my lather.
I had ingorwn hairs on my neck at all times prior TO becoming a wet shaver, which lasted approximately 28 years. Electric razors and multibladed cartridge razors either didn't cut or it cut the hair beneath the skin level, creating conditions under which curly whiskers found their way under the skin. DE razors elininated the ingrowns and the Slant Bar perfected my shave
I am wondering if others are as enamored with the slant bar, and if there is enough interest to start a group such as the Lovers of Single Edge Razors (LOSER) or the Brotherhood of the Open Comb (BOTOC). If so, what would be a good name and acronym?
