I think I have scored a heck of a lot of a well made shaving brush. If my information is right , It seems I have a 2006 Rooney super badger shaving brush. For what I understand , R.A. Rooney was bought by Mr Lee Sabini back in 2005 , so it seems this is one of the first brushes he could have made.

My devotion for the Rooney/M&F/T&H serie 1 handles is great , as many of you alredy know , and what a pleasure it to own one of these ones , which seems to be from the very first batches of the serie 1 handles.

And maybe some of you could ask , how does he knows that the brush is from the first Rooney batches? Well , I dont know if this is right or not , but it seems that the first batches of Rooney serie 1 brushes had a taller loft than current ones. This one has a loft over 53 mm , while the current ones (for what I also understand) has a loft shorter than 50 mm.
This brush has the following measures (approx.) :
- 24 mm knot
- 53/54 mm loft
- 100 mm total height

The super badger hair used in this brush is also very different than the silvertip used in current batches. This one is closer to Semogue's "Selected silvertip" or even shavemac's D01 silvertip (the tips arent as white)
The hair density ? A pic better than a 1000 words :

Yes , its very , very dense of hair , and the knot shaped is fan , so perfect for facelathering.
I haven't used it yet , since I'm still testing two band brushes this week , but Im looking forward to do so next week and enjoy this heck of a lot of shaving brush.
I will be reporting back.
