My Joris/Plisson Razor
Like the old commercial said, when E.F. Hutton speaks, we listen. Well, when Ben74 and Obie speak, I listen. Over the past year I have hounded both to death about the Joris Razor. Well, when Ben put this beautiful razor on our B/S/T, that was it. I just had to have it and now I do. So, here is my opinion/review on "this" Joris Razor.
As a user of mostly mild DE razors I purchased this razor totally because of its looks and was not disappointed when it arrived. The Joris is indeed a work of art, the piano black handle with thin pinstripes is stunning and the head is drop dead gorgeous, the kind of instrument that is a pleasure to use. I am using it with a Polsilver Super Iridium blade and the shave is very close, with only two passes.
Classic, beautiful, high quality, and a joy to use from the moment you open the package and find this gorgeous razor, you know you're in for a treat. Visually, a work of art and matched with suburb functionality. This razor is perfect for everyday shaving with enough aggressiveness for those that skip a day or two and have thick stubble.
In terms of aggressiveness, the razor does not disappoint. On my first pass, I find the razor removes at least 80 percent of my beard, rendering subsequent passes to be little more than touch up. This has allowed me to cut the number of passes I make each day down to two. Given the weight of the razor I use no pressure and let the razor do the work. Short strokes also seem to work best. The Joris is an aggressive razor, make no mistake, but it is not to be feared.
Ben and Obie, I would like to thank you for putting up with my pestering. I value your advise and you did not steer me wrong on this recommendation.
