As my journey through the world of wet shaving continues, as much as I think I’ve learned, there is so much more to be discovered it seems.
In terms of trying new things out, I’ve realized that more often than not, a single trial is not enough. For me, this is a common reason that I ‘rediscover’ items that I once tried and set aside, thinking that they weren’t up to par. Worse yet, I likely sold items that didn’t get a proper chance to show their true attributes. This, in my experience, has applied to razors, blades, brushes, soaps, aftershaves; the entire spectrum of products used in wet shaving.
Some examples of things that have proven themselves to me over the course of time and repeated use : Martin de Candre soap, Kai Captain Titan Mild blades, 3-band badger brushes, synthetic hair brushes.
What I previously attributed to be product deficiency or incompatibility, turned out to be a form of ‘user error’ on my part, i.e. not allowing for a certain learning period to accustom myself to the item and its nuances.
I have resolved to give new items at least 3 tries before passing judgment.
Anyone else with similar experiences?
