Wilkinson Light Brigades

Packaging :I really like the Brigade packaging, with a historical painting of the Battle of Waterloo.

Origin: Made in England.

Impressions:

Shave # 1

Razor: Muhle R41 (2013)
Cream: Santa Maria Novella Shaving Cream (old formula)

I was recently given a chance to try out the Wilkinson Light Brigades (thanks for the PIF John!). These blades are sharp and very smooth! With my tough beard and sensitive skin, this is the combo I look for. Today’s 2-pass shave was both closer and more comfortable than usual.

For comparison, they feel a bit smoother to me than my favorite DE blade (Gillette Silver Blues), and tangibly smoother than my Voskhods and Personna 74s I just tested. I am a huge fan of the Cobra / Feather Pro combination. I don’t think anything would be better, but this was pretty close.

I'm not personally concerned with blade longevity, and usually end up switching blades every 2 shaves (as soon as they start to dull). I do however look forward to seeing how this blade performs going forward. Given this first impression, I would not be the least bit disappointed if they lasted longer.

Shave # 2
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (set to 9)
Cream: Penhaligon's Endymion Shaving Cream

Another fantastic shave! While not as close as yesterday due to the less aggressive Slim, I had a closer shave than usual with this razor. The slim is usually smooth, but with this blade this was taken to another level. No irritation and still very sharp.

That makes two better than normal shaves in a row, with the difference being the character of the razor.
I plan on using this blade at least one more time, and will then follow up with my Silver Blues to directly compare.

If anyone has any of these that they could part with, let me know.

Thanks
