I have a '30s Aristocrat with a problem. When opening the TTO, the handle gets stiff around the point where the doors are facing directly up. Before then it is smooth, closing it is smoother (but not as smooth as it should be.)
I've tried soaking the razor in hot tap water + dishwashing detergent, then tried a soak in mineral oil. Using a small flashlight and peering into the handle, I think the problem is accumulated soap scum. I could try putting the razor in very hot (near boiling?) water, but don't want to do that if it is going to damage the razor or the gold finish. As is the razor is certainly functional and I've no desire to turn it into a paperweight.
Any ideas?
