Curley's IDEAL Safety Razor

These show up from time to time and I needed one for my collection. A bit unusual but that's what I like. It's amazing to see the workmanship, thought and effort that went into some of these razors.
It's basically a frameback with a replaceable blade. There is a tiny lock mechanism located at the heel of the blade that wedges it in place. Swing the lock up and you can drive the blade back and replace it.
The guard bar can be rotated to either side of the blade. To release it you press up on the tail of the razor which allows another lock mechanism to swing out of the way allowing the bar to rotate to either side. Press the lock back in place at the jimped thumb notch and it's locked in place.
The bar can be adjusted to locate it closer or further from the edge of the blade by sliding the bar off the razor and adjusting the small threaded barrel on the end of the bar.
You can also keep the guard off the blade and use it as a conventional frameback or hone it if you don't have a replacement blade.
Pretty clever to work this all out.
I didn't push this too far keeping some of the patina in place and I didn't want to remove any of the patent dates on it which read,
Sept 21 1886,,,, March 5 1889 and June 12 1900.
