Was on Larry's site, Whipped Dog Straight Razor, and noticed that he is now offering a 24mm synthetic in addition to the 22mm he offers. Same price for the 24mm set in a handle as the 22mm or $1 more for just the knot. I have the 22mm and really like it, so naturally I had to try the 24mm. I use to use 20mm badger knots and 22mm seemed too big. I am finding in the synthetics the larger knots work better for me. I really like the 24mm knot. It seems just right for what I do, bowl lather with creams, head shave wtg and atg, and face shave 3 passes every other day. The 24mm whips up the lather faster and doesn't use any more product, Proraso Green, than the 22mm. I have a 28mm FS, chubby 2 type, on the way to see how big I want a synthetic brush. The synthetics seem to have more control and not as floppy when you get into the bigger knots. I think you need a bigger knot with the synthetics to get the maximum performance. I just don't know yet how big is too big. So far 24mm is the biggest I have gone. Anyways this is fun. The last few years I have been using the same brushes, badgers and this is kind of like when I experimented with the boars prior to that. Like the boars it isn't that expensive to check out the new synthetics.
