Cat o' Nine Tails (CoNT) is an aftershave that is manufactured by Captain's Choice, the same manufacturer that brings us the quality Bay Rum aftershave.
I purchased a bottle of this, as well as a bottle of Bay Rum as I didn't know which I would like better. I am glad I bought the CoNT as I prefer it over the Bay Rum.
After using the CoNT for a week or two, here are my opinions and the reasons for my ratings:
Value - The value of this aftershave can only be known after using the splash. The rich, deep scents combined with the excellent skincare qualities give this splash a 4/5. It would have received a 5 if it was a tad cheaper, but here in Canada the $20 is still very much worth it!
Quality - The quality of this product is much better than any other aftershave I have used. That being said, all other aftershaves I have are produced on a grand scale. I really enjoy seeing that there are real products in it, as you can see them through the glass, it gives me the feeling that more care went into making the product. It is truly top notch!
Packaging - I have no complaints about the packaging. The dark bottle give it a bit of mystery and it is perfect size to hold in your hand.
Scent - The scent is truly amazing! It has the deep bay rum scent, but it also has a stronger deep/dark cirtus scent (that's the only way I can put it). The scent isn't too strong but lingers for hours! I really enjoy the scent, so I am very glad that it doesn't go away too quickly. Also, the scent has full approval of my wife! ;)
Skin Care/Moisturizing - This aftershave has excellent skin care. It doesn't dry the skin at all, and it doesn't leave it feeling oily either. It keeps the face moisturized and ready for the day. However, like most products, it can't fully protect my face during our cold winter days, but that being said, it does offer more protection than most alcohol based aftershaves.
Cooling Sensation - There is NO cooling sensation! ;)
No Burn - I can't add any more to what the bottle says: "FEEL THE BURN"!
My final thoughts are that if you like a good deeply scented aftershave, I recommend that this one be added to your den. The burn is intense, but goes away about as quickly as it comes one. I should also mention that there have been a few shaves where I didn't feel the burn, but just enjoyed the nice deep aromas that the aftershave has to offer. So would I buy it again? Yes! Before the bottle runs out, so my use of it goes uninterrupted. :D
