Between creams and soaps I have tried nearly 65, and found in the two forums that I'm an active member, (here and foroafeitado.com) that there was almost no input on this products, which I think it is a bit unfair, here are the reasons:
The review is about the Goodfellas shaving cream, at which site, the scent description is the following:
"Imagine a gathering of a family at a barbershop. Goodfellas starts with citrus notes of different calibers that blend beautifully with a mild and delicate floral sweetness. These notes evolve and dominate the scent as it develops creating a very classic scent reminiscent of old times gone by."
Scent: To me (of course YMMV) it smells very fresh, clean and uplifting, I think it is a very universal scent, I say say this because I doubt that someone can dislike it, it smells amazing, almost like a fresh cologne type, but it somehow feels very natural, since it is made with essential oils.
Skin sensation: I have a very sensitive skin, this is what led me to try so many creams and soaps, and I have to say that with this one you don't feel any stinging at all, it is very pleasant indeed.
Price: 18.00 Dollars, not a cheap one, but it is definitely worth every single penny, since it is a top quality cream which can be even better than the english creams, trust me.
Presentation: A very good one, considering it is an artisan hand made cream. But I think the tub could be a little bit wider in order to swirl the brush over it's top (like Mike's).
Lather quality: Excellent. This is where the creams shines by itself, and also the reason Al's creams are nicknamed "The Bomb". I have to say it is a very thick cream and me being a die hard face latherer it gets kind of tricky, so I would better recommend taking the time and lathering in a bowl. Yes, you "lose" 30 additional seconds in your regular shaving routine, but you will be rewarded with a perfect 10 lather, without a doubt.
Ease of lathering: Very easy, recommended for bowl lathering.
Slickness: Very slick, and easy to rinse of the blade.
Cushion / Protection: Another of it's strengths, a lot of cushion for the blade to cut off your whiskers with ease.
Skin Care: Excellent skin care, after rinsing it off you will feel your skin feeling clean, fresh and moisturized. I even think that you can skip the aftershave.
Formulation: "Contains: sodium and potassium salts of fatty acids (stearic, oleic, linoleum, palmitic, myristic and lauric), water, glycerin and botanicals"
Veredict: A very good cream in it's own right, having tried creams and soaps of most brands and renowned artisans I have to say that this one in particular is in my top 10, and has earned a permanent spot in my rotation, it is one on those tubs that I am going to finish without a doubt.
Recommended: Of course, trust me.
Sidenote: Brush used for the review: Muhle 23mm Silvertip Fibres V2, but it behaves very well with any brush, I have used it with badgers, boars and this synthetic one.
And of course... YMMV!
