6S arrived yesterday, too it for its first spin today.

Setup:

Plate 3
Blade:  GSB
Soap:  Stirling Piacenza
AS/Balm:  Stirling Piacenza

Initial impressions:

My first few strokes I didnt think I had the correct angle, and it felt like it wasnt cutting like it should.  Once I got it dialed in, the whisker reduction was what I would expect from the 3rd plate.  The 2nd pass was effortless, and I felt like I got somewhere between a BBS and DFS with 2 easy passes.  Couple things struck me about this razor:  1)  I rotate between keeping the sink basin filled with warm water and rinsing my razor off to clean, vs keeping my water running and rinsing that way.  The lather channels on this razor seem to clear better using the running water method.  Could've been the soap, but something to watch/keep on eye on moving forward.  2)  going back on a bare face to buff/clean up was MUCH smoother with this razor than any other I have ever used.  This step usually induces irritation for me, but not so with the 6s.

In summary, this was a very impressive 1st shave.  I am going to go to Plate #4 on Tuesday (my normal shave routine is Sunday, Tues, Thur) and explore the extra aggressiveness.  Having said that, Plate #3 would provide an outstanding shave experience for just about anyone (except some of us hardcore nuts on here).  This isn't anything groundbreaking that hasnt been discussed on here many times, just my initial thoughts on an outstanding piece of equipment.

Here it is on my Jurgen Hempel titanium handle:
