100m Freestyle

On this date in 1922, Johnny Weissmuller, later Tarzan in the movies, became the first to swim the 100m freestyle in under one minute. He also won the event in the Olympics twice, in 1924 and 1928. The current world record holder is César Cielo Filho, who set the record (46.91 seconds) during the 2009 FINA World Championships.
