I remember my first RR purchase of Fresco soft soap and the pleasant surprise it gave me. It was the first veggie soap I tried that performed admirably. Well this one was kind of a shock as well. It performs even better than the Fresco and has the nicest Eucalyptus scent I have ever experienced. Now with a name like Brain Freeze I expected a bit of a menthol kick. It has a nice soft menthol kick that works wonders in this summer heat. This is the soft version of the soap that loads quickly and easily.
Value: Well five stars here for me. For 8 bucks you get a quality product in a nicer container than the Fresco came in.
Quality: The nicest mentholated soap or cream I have ever experienced.
Packaging: Depends on how you look at it. It is a great container that is handy to use and even travel with. It is not a luxury container but I am positive I would rather have this container at this price and get the luxury of this soap instead. I voted 3 stars but not because of any lack of quality of the container. It's just not a fancy container.
Scent: OK here is the YMMV capital of the world. I find this to be the nicest Eucalyptus scent I have ever experienced. and it's mentholated too with the most pleasant menthol scent i have ever used. Now don't get me wrong. This isn't Penhaligons BB or Floris No89. This is the ubiquitous Eucalyptus and menthol but at a strong but soft and refined level. I did not expect the scent to be this nice. So 5 Stars.
Lather: Wet,Slick,Creamy,Fast,Protective and nice skin care 5 stars
Skin Care and Moisturizing: 4 stars. Not quit MWF or Mike's but still well above average.
Slickness: Not just slick but a wet slick that still rinses fairly easily.
OK now for the disclaimer. I do not react to menthol as readily as do some other people. I feel very little menthol effect from Alt Innsbruck, 444, Aqua Velva. I feel a nice effect from Krampert's Frostbite. This soap is above the first group in effect but well below the Krampert's effect. Nice on my face this time of year and I really like it but I am a poor judge for how your face will react to it. I do not find it to be a debilitating freeze. I made some homemade aftershave out of Everclear and menthol crystals that knocks my socks off but this is way below that level.
It's just good stuff that must contain some pretty fine essential oils in order to smell so good for what is a pretty generic scent. This is not like a Halls cough drop at all! the RR888 wax I use smells coarse and unrefined compared to this and I like it just fine.
Overall it's the nicest of it's kind I have used and it is inexpensive!
