My apologies to those who may have read my introduction at another shaving forum. I repeat it here, having little time at present to recreate it in another form...

My interest in traditional shaving might well be called a gift, as I was literally handed a wonderful, rather opulent (Muhle Silvertip, HD, Taylor's sandalwood and a sampler pack of blades that soon had me sensing the marvellous possibilities of this new world) beginner's kit for my fortieth by my excellent elder brother (wielder of a Merkur Vision and a true gentleman!).

A couple of months of shaving and reading have followed and I've added a Vulfix 404, an EJ DE8911, a little Lord 5 and what sundry blades and soaps I could get my hands on at this great Antipodean remove.

Owning a small assemblage of Russian watches I have been thrilled to be able to purchase excellent Russian made blades such as those labelled Rapira and Astra and, like my watches, to be able to use them on a daily basis.

I find myself here now after deeming the tone and mood of this forum both considered and inclusive, and the levels of experience and knowledge on display truly inspiring.

I do hope you will forgive the shortcomings of any posts to follow.
