After reading Tieste's fine review of Shavemac's Finest fan knot brush http://shavenook.com/thread-shavemac-fin...aped-brush and then an equally fine review my Mike Perry of the same brush http://shavenook.com/thread-review-shave...-fan-knot, I couldn't help myself...

By the numbers it's a 23mm finest knot set at 50mm in a Blue Marble handle. Right out of the box, the knot seemed to be well packed with a similar density to my Simpson 58 in Best, but not as dense as my Truefitt & Hill 3/2 Silvertip. More importantly it felt wonderfully soft against my face while still dry.

As I was admiring the brush, I was surprised to notice what looked like a dark line running vertically along the handle.

Turns out that the backside of the brush handle was completely a different finish, a solid, very dark blue. I was a little bit surprised, as I had assumed that the brush handle would be consistent in finish on all sides.

Yet if I really liked the front blue marble finish, it's really the knot, how it lathers and how it feels that I"m interested in. Here is where this brush really excels.

An easy Mitchell's Wool Fat lather in a Dirty Bird 1.5 scuttle. The latherful Shavemac finest feels is super soft on my face, holds plenty of lather, and easily releases it. In short this is a nice mixture of density, backbone, softness and good flow thru.
I think that the fan shape is simply fantastic for this brush.

Finally the fan shaped knot blooms nicely, adding to the great face feel.
